Frequently Asked Questions
The really tough questions, answered by our customers....
Will this work where I live?
Yes! Reviewers often say the game takes them to places they never knew existed - even in their own neighbourhood.
One family shared:
“We started from our home in Māngere and drove all around Auckland following the cards. We found little lakes in industrial areas we never knew existed, went down streets we’d never been down and explored neighbouring suburbs we’d never ventured through before.”
Another reviewer said:
“We travelled through about five suburbs on back streets we would never normally use and discovered shops we didn’t know we had near our area.”
Adventurers frequently mention discovering hidden parks, local cafés, small towns and scenic spots close to home. Even people who know their area well say the cards send them to places they would never normally go.
Will we actually use it more than once?
Yes! Reviewers frequently mention using the cards multiple times.
One customer wrote:
“We’ve spent the last few weekends playing with our various sets.”
Another reviewer said their family has started collecting different versions so they can:
“Try them all out.”
Many adventurers describe it as something they bring out whenever they want a spontaneous adventure.
Do I have to plan anything?
No. Reviewers often say the best part is that you don’t need a plan.
One customer explained:
“We just set off and went where the cards told us.”
Another reviewer said they love that it lets them:
“Get out with no destination and just go where the day — or the cards — take us.”
Many adventurers say the game works because it removes the pressure of planning what to do.
Is it really fun or just a gimmick?
It's actually fun! Reviewers consistently say the biggest surprise is how much fun they have.
One customer wrote:
“It’s simple and fun — a great way to explore without a destination in mind.”
Another said their outing turned into:
“A fabulous Saturday together.”
Many reviews describe the experience as turning an ordinary day out into something memorable.
One reviewer summed it up like this:
“We got lost, got found again and laughed till our sides hurt.”
Is this a good gift?
Many reviewers say they originally bought it as a gift - and then bought another set for themselves!
One person wrote:
“We bought them for ourselves and for gifts and they are well received by all.”
Another reviewer said they purchased them for family members because:
“Such great fun for young and old alike.”
The game is often mentioned as a gift for families, travellers, couples and people who are hard to buy for.
What happens when you play?
Most reviewers describe it as an adventure that unfolds as you go.
One group shared how their afternoon played out:
“We travelled through suburbs we’d never normally visit, stopped for a morning cuppa, discovered new shops and ended up at a playground where we laughed a lot.”
Another family said their trip looked like:
“A massive scribble on the map.”
The point, according to many reviewers, isn’t the destination - it’s the unexpected stops along the way and the fun and laughs you have while travelling.
Will my kids like it?
Yes - many reviewers say kids love playing Getting Lost.
One parent wrote:
“My teenage kids love taking turns drawing the cards and sending us on adventures.”
Another customer who gifted the game said:
“The kids were jumping to help out and pick things up - it was magic.”
Reviews often mention playing with kids, teenagers, grandparents and the whole family.
What ages is Getting Lost suitable for?
Everyone! Reviewers span from families with toddlers to retirees in their 70s and 80s — and everyone in between. Kids love being the one in charge of picking cards. Some packs (like the Date Night Edition) are designed for adults, but most games are for all ages (check the product listing if you are unsure).
"We had our 12 year old in charge of card picking and he loved it also!"
"My 4 year old Bluey fan called it crazy sat nav. She giggled every time we had a new direction to go. She wants to play it again, as do I."
"Not bad for late 60 and 70 year olds — brings joy and happiness."
